Nethertown Cup
We are now half-way through the Nethertown Cup league. Scores are all very close, so it's all to play for in the second half of the league.
Lesmahagow secured third spot in Cambusnethan Cup Competition.
Narrowly missing out on top spot by just 2 ends Skip Charlie Murray said ‘We are delighted to come Third, however it’s a wee bit frustrating to miss top spot by such a narrow margin’

The first competition of the season was completed last night. Due to the late start to the season it was a somewhat shortened competition this year with just 4 teams competing in a round robin league.
The winning rink was skipped by Jim Stewart with Andy Williamson as 3rd , Peter Kerby 2nd and Amanda Stewart leading.
Congratulations to the winners and good luck to all the teams competing in the Nethertown Cup which starts next week.
Sunday 6th November saw the long awaited inter-club game v Galston Haymouth. After a 2 year absence, it was great to welcome 3 teams form the Ayrshire club to Lanarkshire Ice rink. It was a fun filled day with friendships made and renewed and some really good curling.
Unfortunately the Ayrshire teams proved too strong for Lesmahagow and we lost all 3 matches. After a lovely meal in the restaurant provided by Stewart and his team, President Alan presented the Cuddy to Galston Haymouth President Paula. The afternoon finished with the skips giving account of their games and a few 'stories' to entertain the curlers.
We are already looking forward to the return match next season in Ayrshire.
Sunday saw the start of the new season for Lesmahagow Curling Club with the finals of last season's Medal competitions. The semi's of the Clay Medal took place at 12.15 with 4 teams playing. However as 3 of the teams had only 1 member of the original team playing, by default, the winners were Iain Mcalister and his rink of Iain Callan, Louise O'Donnelly and Douglas Carruthers (sub).
Following a lovely meal in the restaurant the final took place at the slightly earlier time of 5pm with 2 complete teams taking part! After a great game the winners were:
Bill Marshall, Alison McRae, Tom Roche and Douglas Carruthers. Congratulations!
A very special thank-you to all the subs who played on Sunday it was a great way to kick-off the season!
After our delay we are happy to announce that the season will start on Sunday 23rd October with a full day of curling to complete the Medal Competition from last year.
I hope everyone can make the event, please let me know if you will be attending and, if not already in a team, if you would like to sub. The ice is already paid from last year and the cost of High Tea is £13 which includes a tip for Stewart and his team.
As far as the curling goes, the teams are as follows, can I please ask skips to contact their team members and confirm they can play.
The semi final of the Clay at 12.15pm
M1: Team 2 v Team 5
M2: Team 3 v Team 4
The final of both medals at 5.45pm
Team 1 v Team 6 – Silver Final
Winner M1 v Winner M2 – Clay Final
The Unders and Overs competition brings together curlers with under and over 5 years experience. This year 10 teams enjoyed a fun day and got to experience playing in different positions. It was encouraging to see some of the talent coming through from Hamilton Young Curlers with 2 of their members in the winning rink.
Winners on the day were (overs) Margo Steele and Fiona Hetherington with (unders) Jennifer Ward and Erin Roche. Runners up were (overs) Fiona Motion and Sarah Mateer with (unders) Carrie Buchanan and Ruth Warnock.
Congratulations to the winners and thanks to everyone who took part and made it a success.
